Tips on how to encourage your customers to leave feedback/reviews:

Did you know that 90% of people’s buying decisions are based on other people’s online reviews. Not capitalising on encouraging your customers to leave you feedback/reviews is a real loss guys! It’s essentially the building blocks to generating your restaurant more traffic.

Hold up, another fact for you real quick – did you know that online reviews/feedback are one of the most important factors in boosting your local search rankings! Now who wouldn’t want to benefit from that?!

So let’s dive in!

  • Ask! If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Make sure that both yourself and your staff members are not forgetting and missing out on opportunities to ask your customers to leave a review – or two… who’s counting?! More than 70% of customers tend to be more than happy to leave you the review you asked for.
  • Integrate asking for feedback as part of your customer service process. After dealing with a query and/or solving an issue, don’t forget to ask for a review. Ask them how their experience was and what could have been improved. Be open to learning and growing with the help of your customers feedback.
  • Offer an incentive – don’t go overboard! A small incentive is more than enough. Something like a free drink or side with their meal next time they pop into your restaurant. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again – we all love a freebie – or two… who’s counting?!

  • Make it easy for your customers to leave a review! A countertop display can (and often has) proven to be very effective when encouraging your customers to leave you a review. Why not leave a tent card or an ipad (if you’re restaurant is bougie enough and has the finances ;)) at the till which will remind people to leave you a nice little review in any way that they want. Website, Tripadvisor, social media, email etc. Give your customers the choice to make them feel in control.
  • Send surveys – email your customers a short and concise survey. They’re easy to set up, analyse and is also the one of the best ways to get great feedback – letting your customers know what to expect beforehand will be a real winner guys. Your customer will feel that their time is being respected which will encourage them to take the survey.

  • Stay on top of your social media A-game! For many of us; social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook are our go-to places to leave a review. BTW – if you’re not on both Instagram & Facebook then I really don’t understand… WHAT ON EARTH YOU’RE WAITING FOR! …..Ooops did I go overboard? Sorry, I’m just extremely passionate about the amount of potential restaurants have on Instagram & Facebook; customers and/or potential customers are bound to comment underneath a mouth-watering visual of your food post than anything else to be fair! So make sure your Instagram and other social media platforms are in tip top condition, always encourage feedback in the comments section “Let us know what you think in the comments below ??   – it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!” something along those lines  and I am sure that on any given day there are bound to be a pile of people feeling generous who are willing to comment.

  • Ensure you have profiles set up on the most popular review websites such as Google My Business, Google Local, Tripadvisor, Yelp etc. making sure that your restaurant has a presence in all of the hot spots will definitely be a game-changer and you’ll be flooding in those reviews!

So there you have it guys, a few tips to get you guys going in your journey. You probably already implement some or if not all the above and if that is the case then go ahead and drop us a comment and let us know how your experience was, what you benefited from and what you’d change etc.
